Why am I taking this course?
What does fitness mean to me?
What do I hope to gain from this course over the next 3 months?
What are my own personal fitness goals for this semester?
I’m taking this course because I needed a new non-technical track, and I have always been interested in health and fitness. I tried a finance track and I found it was not at all something that I wanted to keep doing, so when I saw this class was available, I was pretty excited. I’ve played soccer my whole life, up until college, and once I stopped playing soccer I kept up running and weightlifting. As my computer science classes get harder, being able to fit in two electives that both have to deal with health and fitness seemed like a perfect fit. I was not sure if i would ever have the option to take classes like this in an area that interested me, even if this may not be the career I choose to go into, but I’m very excited that I get the chance to. In fact, I’m also taking another class called Lifestyle Nutrition that I hope will be just as interesting, but I’m glad that I get to take these two classes this semester.
For me personally, working out is one of my favorite things to do, and especially during the school year I think it’s the best way for me to relieve stress. I enjoy seeing the progress I have made and continue to make in my appearance, my strength, and my mental health, and I feel like paying attention to health and fitness does so much for me. I have 4 siblings, and we all played soccer and a bunch of other sports together, so being active has always been a part of my life.
Recently, during the covid lockdown, I’ve started to research a lot more into fitness, so during the next 3 months I would like to continue that and see whatever new things I can pick up in this course that may help me. I’ve been going a lot more in depth with actually trying to learn a lot about the body, nutrition, and weightlifting, so I think this class should be able to add to what I’ve learned so far.
Unfortunately, I’ve been dealing with a lot of health issues recently, so during this semester my main goal is to feel back to normal and actually be able to work out again. Hopefully I should be able to do that in the next couple weeks to a month, but I have not enjoyed being forced out of my normal routine both with nutrition and working out. Regardless of that, I’d like to just learn a little more about the body and see what I can add to my own workout plan. Also, pretending that this was normal circumstances, I would like to improve my strength on a couple exercises and learn more about nutrition this semester. Based on the first meeting, I like how the class is structured, and I think I will really enjoy this semester.
